The bright boys of the Melbourne business establishment have been good at dishing out advice to the rest of Australia, telling everyone else to "reform", but the record of the Melbourne business establisment doesn't stand up to any sort of close scrutiny. BHP and Orica have both had near-death experiences in the last 10yrs, and NAB has been under-performing for years. BHP excels at gathering up iron ore that is lying on top of the ground, but whenever they try something more difficult they inevitably make a mess of it. Orica is in a state of perpetual slow motion, and NAB is trying to expand into the 2 shakiest economys in the developed world, America and England, but the Melbourne business establishment would have us believe that Australians are over-paid, unproductive, unskilled and have too many days off. After years of "reform" the most important reforms are still to be made and that is to clean up corporate Australia, the Melbourne business establishment is undoubtly Australia's biggest organised crime syndicate.
