Australia, the clever country, Australia leads the world, but it is too difficult to get a bit of insulation into the roofs of Australian homes. Australian politicians and business leaders make a mess of most things they set out to do, then tell Australian workers they have to be more productive. We get interim reports, final reports, feasability reports, unlimited procceses and procedures, Australian standard quality endorsed accreditation, training and retraining, and the end result is nothing. We had a year of "vigorous debate" about an ETS by our elected representitives and achieved nothing. The Defense Dept. burns billions, BHP has a long history of spending billions on white elephants, Wally King and Hugh Morgan are great examples of a generation of useless Australian managers. These same people tell us we have to work harder for longer. There are any number of "senior economists" dishing out good advice for everyone else, Australia must have more "senior economists" per capita than any nation on earth, and they are all experts on productivity.
